Der echte Sir William Wallace von Elderslie (* um 1270 in Elderslie bei Paisley in Schottland; † 23. August 1305 in London), war ein schottischer Freiheitskämpfer. Das Leben William Wallace war Vorlage für den US-amerikanischen Spielfilm Braveheart von 1995 mit Mel Gibson in der Titelrolle.
