SS030A - The Mine Clearers Part 2 Normandy
Comprises a 2 man squad gingerly clearing allied mines in preparation for the German counter attack. One man moves forward searching whilst equipped with a standard issue mine detector. His comrade in arms lifts a mine with his bayonet. To highlight the shortages faced by the Germans we have ‘dressed’ one of the figures in a Wermacht jacket but also wearing SS issue trousers and helmet! This look was inspired after seeing a German seaman photographed wearing a Kriegsmarine hat, Heer jacket and Luftwaffe trousers whilst serving in North Africa! I was also inspired by photographs of German Fallschirmjager at Monte Cassino wearing SS smocks and TGM will produce some of these in 2012 sporting this look. The mine detector pole is detachable to avoid breakages during transit. Limited to 200 sets in the Normandy SS version and 100 in the DAK version.
